INTERVIEW ON THE MAXY COOPER SHOW

MC - Well here we are in the studio with independent Tasmanian film makers Majjik and Markra, who have recently completed a controversial 45 minute feature BURNT OUT which has been banned by Screen Tasmania, Department Of Economic Development, football clubs, The Neighborhood house and many other organizations around Tasmania.

Well guys this movie really freaked me way out and I have to admit I don't like the darkness of the story. But on a lighter note BURNT OUT is your debut feature film, could you tell us what are your underlying messages and inspirations for making such a twisted story?

MK - Life itself is full of tortured souls searching for their passions through fire, torture and not facing the truth that lurks inside a demonic urge to gratify the souls need for more booze and fire!

RA - Right, its really about that saying that the truth is far stranger than fiction. Look at our society, at our institutions that are the moral leaders and examples for our youth? They are catergorically all liars, cheats and for the most part, members of some secret society setup to control us all.

MC - Wow, I think I am even more freaked out now, tell us about your mentors ? Who inspires you ?

MK - You mean dementors! The ones that have actually made cult films that stay with you forever!

RA - Ya, like Kubriks Clockwork Orange! My Dad gave that film to me on my 16 th birhtday, we watched it over at a mates place and his parents came in at the scene where Alex and the droogs are raping that lady with the giant ceramic Penis, I was banned from their house and we were'nt allowed to hang out after that.

MK - Mel Gibsons Apocalypto is my modern day inspiration of where I would like film to go!

RA - Totally excellent movie, love the mans work, he's really learned the art from the ground up! I just love the way he has the characters in his story speaking in their native tongue and subtitles. Peter Jackson is another amazing film maker and so is Akira Kurosawa.

MC - Can you share with us some of the driving factors that inspire your imagery and film making?

MK - Tasmania's wilderness and my travels around the world.

RA - Driving factors? The burning inside of wanting to help uplift humanity and bring stories to planet Earth that inspire people to stand up against the injustice. I believe peace on earth is achievable. Another driving factor was no government funding with support continually denied and then going on to make a $300,000.00 movie funded purely through sponsorship and our own investment. The love of our friends and family as crew and cast with their support over the years to keep going!

MC - Inspiring stuff, tell us more about your dealings and experiences with Screen Tasmania, the governing film body for your home state of Tasmania Australia?

MK - Closed door don't even want to go there!

MC - Ra ?

RA - How about words like latte clique, nepitism and total government policy being dictated and towing of the party line. Imagine trying to get funding and make a film that critizes the destruction of our last old growth forests? Impossible! Screen Tasmania is directly controlled by the Economic Development office, they don't even consider film an art!

MC - Has BURNT OUT been accepted in any local film festivals in Tasmania?

MK - We're not main stream.

RA - Does anyone know what mainstream is? They ( S.T.) refused our film because it was not mainstream but played a victorian movie DOGS IN SPACE which is a heroine drug overdose film, that was definitely not mainstream when they made it, but because Michael Hutchenson (INXS) is trendy now they showed it.

MC - What about your work, what is it you fight for?

MK - Justice, Truth and honoring Mother Earth!

RA - Freedom from oppression and defence of Mother Earth against the materialistic forces of greed and corporate/government destruction.

MC - That's all the time we have now , sorry guys I will be looking forward to seeing your next hard edge gritty film. Thank you for your time and good luck with it all.
